Visit by Mayor and Alderman to DE Klop: Innovation and Collaboration in Sliedrecht’s Manufacturing Industry
Recently, Mayor Jan de Vries, Alderman Roelant Bijderwieden, and Business Account Manager Jasper van Maren paid an inspiring visit to DE Klop in Sliedrecht. During their visit, they were thoroughly briefed on the company’s activities and the future of the manufacturing industry in the Drechtsteden region, with a special focus on Sliedrecht.
A significant topic of discussion was the ‘triple helix’ collaboration between government, education, and industry, and the role of the government in developing the regional manufacturing sector. This partnership is essential for innovation and economic growth in our region.
The highlight of the visit was a tour of the Cygnus, a fully emission-free cutter suction dredger currently being completed by DE Klop in Sliedrecht. This project is a prime example of local collaboration, with the entire vessel being constructed by companies and suppliers from the region.
We take pride in the innovative strength and cooperation within our municipality and with the municipal executive board, and we look forward to the continued development of the manufacturing industry in Sliedrecht and the Drechtsteden.
