Training Boost in Brisbane – Efficiency up, Fuel down!
Last month, we were in the Brisbane area for an intensive training program at a leading dredging company operating a fleet of 15 dredgers.
Together with the team — from crew and operators to project managers and office staff — we developed a complete training package consisting of:
🔹 Theoretical training
🔹 Simulator training (using our mobile simulator set up directly in the classroom)
🔹 On-the-job training on board, including a full operational survey and advisory report
Over three weeks, we trained four groups of operators and visited three dredgers. What stood out?
Experienced operators were surprised by new insights and improved working methods.
Production increased significantly, while fuel consumption decreased and operational hours went up.
Old habits were replaced with more efficient practices.
The project and calculation teams also participated in a combined theoretical and simulator training session — a great success with many valuable discussions.
Highlight:
During an emergency project off the coast of Brisbane, where an island had split in two, we supported a 500 mm cutter dredger. By immediately operating more efficiently, production increased by 50%, while fuel consumption decreased.
