Self-Manoeuvring Dredgers: Innovation on the Water

The self-manoeuvring cutter suction dredgers from DE Klop / De Hollandsche IJssel are nothing short of revolutionary. With extensive experience and continuous feedback from the industry, these machines are designed to be reliable, multifunctional, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and ergonomically sound.

Thanks to advanced dredging techniques, even narrow irrigation and cooling water canals and marinas can now be dredged without the need for side cables and anchors. This is made possible by the innovative use of three or more hydraulically driven spuds and a hydraulically activated cardan joint on the articulated cutter head. In wider canals or small lakes, the dredgers can be easily operated with three winches. The spuds can be lowered onto the deck, and even the top of the cabin can be removed to pass under low bridges.

The standard range of these impressive machines starts with a suction/discharge pipe diameter of 6 inches (150 mm) and goes up to 12 inches (300 mm). It’s no surprise that the self-propelling cutter suction dredgers offer an excellent price-quality ratio. Each buyer receives personal guidance to ensure they make the ideal choice for their specific needs.

Every type of cutter suction dredger is equipped with the highest quality dredging equipment. This includes double-walled, wear-resistant high-pressure dredge pumps that are easy to maintain, robust cutter heads, sturdy winches, and efficient hydraulic systems featuring load-sensing variable plunger pumps and low-pressure servo systems.

What makes these dredgers even more impressive is their powerful construction. The main diesel engine and dredge pump are securely mounted on a robust frame. The double-walled dredge pumps are directly driven by the main diesel engine via a standard gearbox with an integrated hydraulically activated clutch, or indirectly by an electric or hydraulic motor.

Modern marine diesel engines ensure low fuel consumption and minimal NOx emissions. This combination results in the lowest possible costs per cubic meter of dredged material, with minimal downtime for replacing wear parts and low maintenance costs due to component standardization. The type designation of the self-propelling cutter suction dredger refers to the diameter of the suction and discharge pipeline.

With the self-propelling cutter suction dredgers from DE Klop / De Hollandsche IJssel, the future of dredging is not only promising but also green and efficient!
